Of course! Oversizing a bassinet for an infant will leave the baby unsupported, thereby increasing the potential for flat or sunken head syndrome.
Too much room, or too deep of a sleep layer will place undue stress on the joints and bones in an infant’s body causing them to be more prone to Flat Head Syndrome. Too much space is just as harmful as not having enough space at all.
Anything that can touch an infants head should be removed from the bed unless they are secured into it with tightly wrapped blankets. This includes stuffed animals, bumper pads, pillows etc.
The closer one can pack themselves against their little one, while still remaining comfortable (for both of you!) will make for both happier nights and healthier babies.
How big can a baby be in a bassinet?
Babies can’t self-regulate their temperatures, so it’s very important that they’re not hot. The room shouldn’t go above 75° Fahrenheit and the baby shouldn’t be in direct sunlight for more than a short amount of time.

What’s more, babies that slouch might have spine curvature problems later.
